Growth

So, if you know Cindy then you know she likes yarn that makes a statement, yarn you can really get a handle on, yarn that doesn't mess around, in other words........thick yarn.

We've tried to get her to play around with the small stuff but she wasn't having any of it. We bribed her with beautiful shawl patterns and then it came out that she didn't really like those either and that was it, our hope for her was lost. That was until Zen Yarn Garden came along.

The picture above is of the shawl (she calls it a sharf, shawl/scarf but whatever it's a shawl) that Cindy knit out of Serenity Silk Single.   The pattern is Mezquita Shawl by Roxanne Yeun and it's lovely, but made so much lovelier by the delicate fingering weight yarn that is Serenity.

So I advise you all to take a look at Cindy's masterpiece when you come in and maybe make a little comment, nothing too forward but if you can add some good sarcasm it would be appreciated. ;)

We have new lines in from vendors that we have never carried before like Cascade Venezia, Misti Alpaca Tonos, Rowan Kidsilk Haze and a few more.

You can choose any project from the book you like and just show up on Thursday from 5-7pm to join in. Who doesn't want to be the lady in red helping support a wonderful cause? For more details please see our Ravelry group page.

Jane Austen Night

Jane Austen, the woman knew how to write didn't she? Thank goodness there are so many movies made from her books and that Colin Firth decided to take a part in one of them. :)

We had a our first installment of the Jane Austen movie nights on the 13th.  By way of votes, we decided to watch the 5 hour long A&E version of Pride & Prejudice, one half now, the last half on the 27th (5pm, be there or be square). I think the following picture will explain why we chose that version.

We had lots of yummy food. Fresh made scones, iced tea, peaches, chocolate dipped bananas and strawberries, cookies and lemonade. I mean just take a look at how wonderful everything turned out.

Not only did we enjoy the amazing movie, the great themed food and drinks, but we also enjoyed each others company and our fun projects. We had everything from socks to sweaters. It was particularly fun to discuss which version we liked better........the A&E version or the most recent one and why.  We told who we would take from each to make the perfect flick ourselves.

I can't wait for next week to do it all again. There will be more yarn, more food, and of course, more Mr. Darcy. We hope you can make it to the festivities because really people, you missed out. :)
