UFOs to FOs

Ok, now I know I'm not the only one who has a pile of UFOs hidden in a corner of some room, covered by whatever else you can think of to try and hide the shame.  You don't want it staring you down as you bring home new yarn before these projects are finished.

It's time to turn these UFOs to FOs.  I don't know why but I have gotten this bug to finish up these pesky projects that have taken me forever.......maybe it's because they have been in hiding for so long that now it's like they're new projects.

There really is no greater feeling than seeing a bunch of empty projects bags that I have had stuffed away for a year. Now I can buy sweater set-up guilt free right?.......maybe not but I definitely don't feel bad about casting on when I can count on one hand how many UFOs I have.

Join me as I pile up my FOs and show me what you have accomplished lately. :)

Books

If you didn't already know, we got some new books in. A couple that I have gone gaga over are the Essentially Feminine Knits and Knit Red. Great designs and causes.

Essentially Feminine Knit is already sold out and re-ordered here at the shop.  You don't understand, you turn the page and your jaw drops at how beautiful the next pattern is. I want to knit them all. So many patterns and so little time.

Knit Red is a book made for woman and Heart Disease awareness. There are gorgeous patterns from Ysolda Teague, Norah Gaughan, Kim Hargreaves, Debbie Bliss, Diane Saucy and many more. There are also women's stories and experience with the disease and tips on how to live a healthier life.

We will be doing a KAL in August with the Knit Red book and will be donating 5% of the proceeds from the yarn purchases for said KAL. We hope you can join us for a good time and great cause.

Come check out our little library and see what other books tickle your fancy. ;)

Snape-olicious

The Harry Potter love continues with The Half Blood Prince. For those of you who couldn't make it last Friday, you have another chance to join in on the fun June 22nd at 5pm. We will continue our themed knits and snacking.

I loved discussing everyone's favorite Harry moment or theories as to why this or that happened. We all want an owl that can deliver or mail straight away and is willing to die for us right?  Or the ability to fly on a broom.......maybe that's just me.

Anywho, hope you can make it for the fun and festivities. :)
Incoming......YARNS!

We've got a summer filled with new yarns making their way to our shop.  Last week we saw Zen and this week we have our Artyarns and brand new to the market, "Scrumptious" by Fiberspates.

This Rhapsody Glitter Light by Artyarns is ABSOLUTELY perfect for the "wisp."

Wisp by Cheryl Niamath.  Free pattern on Ravelry
One skein will do the trick and the results are truly breathtaking.   This is a perfect summer accessory because of the lightweight yarn and airy construction.

Also new to the shop and the fiber market is Scrumptious yarn.  A silky blend of silk and Superwash Merino wool with a slight sheen that makes it exceptionally silky to touch and great to work with.

Since these products are so new, we brought in the pattern books; nothing yet on ravelry for this one.

Stay tuned to see what turns up next!

June Knit-a-long

This month’s free KAL will be the “Shift of Focus” sweater by Veera Valimaki. Cori put one of these together real quick in beautiful Malabrigo Rios yarn and now we’re doing it as our June KAL. The pattern calls for Sport weight yarn and size 6 32 inch circular needles. This sweater looks great on all body types because of it’s swing coat appeal and short row shaping to curve around your body.
It’s made top down, in the round and in garter stitch. How easy is that? If you’ve never done short row shaping before, don’t worry, Cori will show you how in the KAL.

You must purchase your own pattern for this class. You can find it here on Ravelry Shift of Focus
Join us this month on Thursday evenings from 5-7:00 to get your own “Shifty” started.
