Spring Bling!

Check out Spring's hottest accessory!  Many of us share the love of beads and yarn and this easy project will have everyone talking.  We'll be doing a class on these later in April.

Bag It Up

Does anyone have a couch covered in yarn? A needle here, a skein of yarn there, it starts to get a little ridiculous. Your family comes home and wants to sit down but God forbid they misplace something.  A good solution is to have individual project bags.  They keep all of your notions, yarn and directions in one place and are an easy organization tool, that and they're pretty. We have quite a few at the shop in all different sizes.

Keep all of your different projects, big and small, in a separate bag and then stick those in a tote and that way, when you head out to your favorite coffee shop, you have everything you need and a variety of projects to work on. :)

Stop by and see what we've got or how we like to use ours. They are almost as addicting as yarn..........almost.

We are very excited to announce that we will be offering a "Beginning Intarsia" Class. Always wanted to do color work but was unsure how to start? Have no fear! We have the class for you.

Beginning Intarsia

Fleur de Lis~ Intarsia Pillow

Intarsia knitting is wonderful for knitting large amounts of color into your work. It can be used for pillows, blankets, shawls and much more. In this 2 part class you will learn:
  • how to read intarsia patterns
  • knit color into your work without creating holes
  • how to create your own intarsia design.
This little pillow was designed and knitted by Cori Schrader, the class instructor. You won't want to miss out on this class.

Technique Classes

We are looking at the schedule for next month and are thinking about adding some technique classes...........Which should we do?  What's there a need for? What do people have trouble with? All of these questions are running through our minds as we look at April.  So, we come to you for suggestions.  Let us know what you're thinking, your opinions are very helpful.

If you are drawing a blank let us involve you in our brain storm.  We were thinking a class on colorwork, Intarsia or Fairisle.  A class on knitting in the round, whether that deals with circulars, DPNs, Magic Loop or all three we don't know yet. There was also mention of putting together a sock class.

Well, what do you think?  Anything to add? Or do they all sound so good you just want to know where to sign up? ;) Brain storm along with us or turn on our light bulbs with your bright ideas, we look forward to hearing some feedback.  Thanks for stopping by for some Goat News.

Sock Yarn!!!

We just got a huge order from Cascade and it came with quite a bit of sock yarn. I don't know about you but sock yarn has a way of making me giddy.  Solid, tonal, striped, varigated, I love it all.  Lately I have been building up my varigated statsh and realized that for a lot of patterns either solids or a mixture of solids is what would make it really pop.  Well, luckily that's what we got in.

Cascade Heritage Sock Yarn is soft, affordable and comes in a plethora of colors, if you don't see what you want here, we can order it for you!  Also, sock yarn isn't just for socks.  If you want a lightweight, delicate knit sock yarn is the way to go.  Here are some pattern ideas that might get your sock yarn frenzy fired up:

Pattern: Murgröna
Designer: Joanna Nordstrnand
Yarn Requirement: Fingering Weight, 425yds
Needle: US 1

Pattern: Mizzle
Designer: Patricia Clift Martin
Yarn Requirement: Fingering Weight, 400-800yds
Needles: US6, US8

Designer: Purl Soho
Yarn Requirement: Fingering Weight, 150-230yds
Needle: US4

Pattern: Falling Water
Designer: Bonnie Sennott
Yarn Requirement: Fingering Weight, 300-400yds
Needle: US5

We are looking into putting together a sock knitting class if you happen to love sock yarn but have yet to make a sock.  Don't be intimidated, you will do just fine and have a beautiful pair of hand knit socks to show for all of your hard work.  In the meantime, make up a shawl or scarf or baby hat and have a blast. Come on in and look at what we've got. I hope this has inspired you. :)
