Cascading Ideas

As you may have seen we got some new Cascade in yesterday. 220 Superwash Sport and Alpaca Lace.

I've got two words for you, soft and pretty. :) This stuff is just lovely and we got in some great colors. We even have more of the 220 Sport coming. Now if you're having trouble thinking of things to make with it, don't worry, we've got you covered. Here are some things we came up with.

For the 220 Superwash Sport:

Pattern: Andrea's Shawl
Designer: Kirsten Kapur

Designer: Grumperina

Pattern: Ida's Kitchen
Designer: Kirsten Kapur

Don't those just look fun? Simple but still fun, great fall or Christmas projects. The Shifting Sands Scarf is huge on Pinterest, just in case you were trying to think of where you've seen it before.

For the Alpaca Lace:

Pattern: Citron
Designer: Hilary Smith Callis

Designer: Hannah Fettig

Pattern: Flutter Scarf
Designer: Miriam L. Felton

You don't always have to do shawls with lace, I mean we threw in the Citron because it is just wonderful and practical while still being delicate and feminine. However, you can still do a garment and the Featherweight Cardigan is just the ticket. We happen to have copies of that pattern in the shop.

Also, to continue my tweed kick, Rowan finally posted pictures of their new patterns for the Rowan Tweed we ordered.

We bought all the yarn necessary to make this little number. You may have to fight me for a set-up. ;)

That's all from us here for today. We hope you find some of this inspirational and remember, we have the yarn you need!

Tweed

Tweed is huge people. I won't get into all of the other lovely trends right now because I feel like focusing on the tweed. I have my coffee and doughnut here during a somewhat crisp morning, daydreaming about being cozy in a nice tweed sweater. The many flecks of color, maybe some elbow patches???? Elbow patches automatically make you smarter right?

Why is my mind on tweed you ask? Well, Cindy just happened to order a bunch from Rowan.......that's right, Rowan Tweed, the good stuff. She got a ton of beautiful colors and a lovely book with amazing sweater patterns. I can't wait to play with it all and match the perfect color with the perfect sweater. I'll let you know when it comes in. It's going to be wonderful.

Socks, An Addiction

We live in socks throughout the winter. We buy cute ones with fun colors, warm. or themed socks but why not knit ourselves the perfect pair that encompasses all of these attributes? Maybe you think they take too long to knit or you don't want to deal with double points. Well, why not knit them using the magic loop method?

If you know how to do this already then September's Knit-A-Long is the one for you! We are making simple, vanilla magic loop socks. We have fun yarn, striped yarn, solid yarn, whatever your little heart desires in order to dress up these vanilla socks.

The magic loop method makes sock knitting a breeze. You have a pair of socks to keep your little toes warm before you know it. In order to participate in the KAL you just need to know how to do magic loop and how to make a sock, we'll go through the pattern together.

The pattern is called Beginner Socks for Magic Loop, it's free on Raverly. You'll just need a ball of sock yarn with some decent yardage and US 2 circular needles at least 24" long. Hope to see you at the shop September 6th at 5pm. :)

New Stuff

We've got some exciting things happening at the goat lately. Let me a share a couple of them with you. One, we got new Alchemy Yarns in for the Magician's Scarf. We will not be kitting these since the colors we got in are pretty interchangeable.

Do you see those vibrant pinks and blues? Those are the newbies. I fancy the pink hues myself. I can totally see wearing a cream colored sweater and wrapping this gorgeous pink scarf around my neck. You know you can picture yourself in it too.

Our next bit of goodness is about our September Calendar. Let's discuss it shall we? As always we have our Learn to Knit and Crochet classes but the goodies are in the technique classes. We have Cables and you get a free follow up class where you learn to make a cabled coffee cozy.

Then there are the In The Round technique classes where you will learn to knit in the round either with circulars or with the Magic Loop method. They will be two separate classes. Both are extremely helpful and really build your knitting skills, especially if you want to participate in September's KAL, which is a Magic Loop Sock. Remember, the KAL is not a class, just more of a social gathering where we can guide each other through the pattern.

We hope you can make it in to grab a copy of the schedule or sign up for a class, or maybe even purchase some delicious Alchemy yarn. See you soon. :)
